August harvest
I only grow stuff that I know 1) will grow and 2) I will eat...well ok, there is an experimental zucchini in the very back that I have no intention of picking. I'm curious to see how big it's going to get.
Here's what I have so far.
Zuccs, Artichoke, Lemon Cucumber, Eggplant and several different varieties of Tomato

and here's the August sky over Fairview. The first clouds in Spokane since June.

I had some projects planned for this weekend but I've been spending most of my time couch surfing with my broken toe (healing very well BTW) ..stay tuned for crafts!

More proof that most accidents happen in the home
Sorry if this grosses you out but what good is a blog about my life if I don't share some of the ugly details?
On Sunday I got up to walk into the kitchen and smashed my foot into the wall, fracturing my right baby toe complete with a very loud dramatic CRACK sound. Which I think should be saved for bones larger than 5/8 of an inch. Who knew something so small could hurt so much and now here I am pretty much immobilized. Richard piggy-backed me to the Doc and back. I wasn't going to go but the internet told me I should. They looked at me, shared in my pain, took x-rays and sent me home with a really unattractive soft cast thing that makes the pain worse so I shall never put it on again.
This is a picture of my foot minutes after I tried to put it through the wall with my super human strength.

This is what it looks like today..
yes I know a pedicure might be inorder... You know that saying..something like make sure you wear clean underwear because you never know when an accident might happen. Granted, I don't have to take close up shots of my toes and post them online but I should really know that something like this might come up.

Then I rubbed my eye and this happened, I thought it was kind of cool and since this post is already gross...

Ok, I may have been a little bored but isn't this cool too?

A self portrait..hopefully this will not leave you feeling queasy...later K

Look up Summer in the dictionary...
I'm sure it describes a very full schedule.
Anyway, I'd like the share some photos from a recent visit with the family in Vancouver BC and a weekend at home complete with new art! Enjoy.
This picture was taken at dawn. We left early for BC in an effort to beat the heat and the traffic

Claire..getting so big

Trevor, lover of all things fuzzy

Claire's 3rd birthday..complete with Horsey cake..it's an acquired taste.

Trail rides with uncle Richard

Is this man overworked?

Grownups can be so cruel

Better just to wear your helmet at all times.

The whole gang

except...Grandma

Had a nice but short visit with some of my favorite people, Laisha and Aaron..why didn't we take more pictures?

Made it to the dog beach. You should have seen my poor water deprived Chester make a beeline for the water.

This is not cruel.

On the way home to Spokane we stopped at Diablo Dam along the North Cascades highway.

Why stop the car?

This is the 'Tripod' fire currently burning 57,535 acres just north of Winthrop WA. and only 10% contained. The photo is from 2 weeks ago, they think that this fire might continue to burn into October.

The dogs make good traveling companions

As the sun sets on that trip..we are home!

We went to "Art on the Green" in Coeur d'Alene Idaho and saw this amazing fiber art.

and this a real live sandcastle

Oh there was plenty of other stuff, you know art and stuff that could have been art..but you've seen that before.
Saturday night is for movies and music at the The Shop!

and Sunday is for art..sometimes
This is a painting of my cat Marta

This is Marta

Thanks for visiting..Hope your summer schedule is as fun as ours!
