Thanksgiving in the sun

I don't really have too many face to face conversations during the week since I have yet to really make any friends down here in California so you would think that I have a lot to say, like it's all just backing up inside me. Well, not to be crude or anything but once something gets backed up it seems harder to shake it loose. Maybe I have too much to say, I'm certain that there are way too many issues floating around in small skull. It would be nice to get out and just bullshit for a while. I think that would be like mental laxative. Anyway, that opportunity currently eludes me.

Does anyone else think it's way to early to be December? I swear this month creeps up on me every year. I'm not in the mood for lights and santa and shopping. I really don't want a Christmas tree. I suppose that makes me some sort of scrooge especially since it's Emmett's first Christmas. I can't be that much of a party pooper, I took the family out to the beach to see Santa and his reindeer arrive via surfboard. Of course I forgot what a celebrity Santa is and we didn't get there early enough to fight the crowds. I don't think Emmett noticed him either. In the end I guess it was just another excuse to go to the beach.

Here are some shots from beach day

We had a quiet thanksgiving. We had already celebrated in Spokane before we left so we didn't feel too sorry for ourselves not having a big dinner to go to. I made Karina's Sweet Potato Enchiladas for the second year in a row and, in my opinion, they were much better than any turkey. Turkey would have been a nice side dish though. Anyway, the meal was low key.

The high point was the fact that it was 70 degrees out and you know us east-coast Canadians, that's swimsuit weather!

We have a pool in the complex that we live in and since we moved in adn I've been dying to get in. So went for a dip. Emmett and I that is, Richard stayed on deck and took pictures.

Here they are

Not sure if Emmett was super crazy about the water but he will be by the end of the summer.

So that was our holiday. It wasn't as much fun as I wanted it to be. I guess that can be said for most things in life. We're still working on a daily routine. Mr Emmett is already 8 months old. The last time I blogged about his age was 4 months ago!

He's a baby on the go for sure. Not quite crawling yet but oh so close and who needs crawling anyway when you can slither around on your tummy like a navy seal.

He has become oh so aware of what Richard and I are doing and his interest in the remote control can only mean that we are watching too much TV or maybe that we change the channel too much. Anyway, we gave him and old remote and he loves it. Now back to my shows.

Most days turn out to be sunny so we usually go for a long walk in the mid morning between naps and then head to the dog park in the afternoon. lately we've been walking about 4 miles to the post office and back through some beautiful old parts of Gilory. The homes are just so darn cute and oh so Californian with their flat roofs and stucco sides. today on our walk I took a few photos of the tress and flowers along the way. I saw some people putting up Christmas trees, lights and other yard decorations so I guess it really is December but not like any I've ever seen before.
