Exploring California's redeeming qualities - Part One (let's hope there are more parts to come)
Today we took a walk in the hills east of Gilroy. We walked among the cows and the clouds. The grass was green, very green and the trail, although covered in cow pies at times, was peaceful.

Kids Discover Art - a few photos from my crazy workshop today.
Kids Discover Art has been going on in Gilroy for 22 years and was started when the local schools began cutting arts programs, or so I hear. It's once a year for kids ages 5-11. There were about 20 or so workshops going all at the same time. Things like, photography, water color, collage, origami - just to name a few. I actually didn't get a chance to look at everything that was there. We were very busy and I had 4 whole volunteers. We did 3 kinds of printing, vegetable stamps and other homemade stamps, block printing with scratch paper and monoprinting with foil.
There were so many children, 5 hours felt like 30 minutes. I thought I took more photos but actually, I'm surprised I got the chance to take any at all. The kids loved the potato stamps and the block prints and the also enjoyed the foil monoprints but I think I would leave that one out if I ever do it again. I think that one might work for older kids in a smaller setting. All together a really fun time, the kids got so excited to see their prints and for the most part the parents stayed out of the way and let them do it!

more prep for my printmaking workshop this weekend.

| I tried to mimic the color wheel from this great new book PRINT WORKSHOP by Christine Schmidt. I have several books about printmaking and this one is by far my favorite so far. |
